Hitchcock

Am I giving my age away by admitting Im an afficiado of Alfred Hitchcock movies?
Throughout the 80s when I was growing up, at every christmas the BBC would put on
'the lady vanishes' for the masses to watch.
It was at this point that my fascination with hitchcocks movies began.

Vertigo

This movie, a classic hitchcock thriller, stars James Stewart and Kim Novak.
Containing a convoluted plot, the movie is cited as the greatest movie ever
made by the British film institutes Sight & Sound critics poll.

The lady vanishes

Yep, you guessed right. Its about a lady that vanishes.
The plot is set immediately before the start of the second world war.

The man who knew too much

Immortalised by the song sung by Doris Day "Que sera, sera" (Whatever will be, will be),
it is about a man who unwittingly becomes involved in high level espionage.

Rear window

It is considered to be one of Hitchcocks best movies.
The plot is about a photographer with a broken leg who is keeping a watch over the neighbours
and discovers a murder.

The 39 steps

This 1938 thriller was directed by Hitchcock while he was still living in England.
Starring Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll, it is about a man who becomes
involved in high level espionage.

To catch a thief

In this 1953 romantic thriller starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly,
Cary Grant stars as a reformed cat burglar who has turned thief catcher in order to save
his reputation.

I confess

This 1953 film noir stars Montgomery Clift and Anne Baxter, and the movie is
about a priest that is wrongly accused of murder.

North by Northwest

This 1959 spy thriller stars Cary Grant and Eve Marie Saint,
and is about a case of mistaken identity.

Psycho

One of hitchcocks most famous movies, this 1960 pyschological horror thriller
stars Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh.
